FFA Intern Feature- Victoria Sanders, Transpara Health

Victoria Sanders was an intern for Transpara Health. She is currently majoring in Comprehensive Science with minors in Bioengineering and Global Health at Villanova University.

Can you tell us a little bit about your background?

I grew up in Erie, Pennsylvania. I have been working as a lifeguard since I was 15 years old, but since I plan on applying to grad school, I knew this summer it was time to get a “big girl” job. I knew the options were going to be limited with COVID-19, but I am lucky enough to have found an internship through FFA that aligns with what I want to do in the future.

How was your life impacted by COVID-19?

I was supposed to be studying abroad with an internship in London this summer. My mom is also a physician so my family had to be really safe to make sure that none of us contracted the virus and passed it on to her patients.

Tell us about the company you interned for and what you worked on.

I worked for Transpara Health, which is a company committed to providing patients with easy access to fair and transparent healthcare. I did a variety of things during my time there. My main projects have been researching labs in the Seattle area that can process COVID-19 tests, researching the FDA EUA approved COVID-19 antibody tests, and running the social media.

Has there been a certain project or experience during your internship that you would like to share?

My favorite thing I have done is probably researching the COVID-19 antibody tests. Transpara Health is looking to purchase some, so I know my work is making a direct contribution to the company.

What are some goals for a future career?

I plan on attending medical school and becoming a doctor.

Who are your role models/ inspires you? Why?

My mom is my biggest role model by far. After my dad passed away when I was 5, my mom raised my 2 sisters and me all by herself. She gave us a better life than I could have ever imagined. She is a doctor too, which of course inspires me, but my main goal is to be half the person/mother she is one day.
