Kristy McCann Flynn is the CEO & Founder of GoCoach, a company providing personalized learning at scale for anyone to own their career. We are a diverse, inclusive, safe and supportive environment for people to learn and upskill.
Tell us about your company. What inspired you to start it?
GoCoach provides personalized continuous learning to all talent with our coach marketplace. We coach entry level to executive level in hard and soft skills and make it accessible and affordable for anyone to own their career. I created GoCoach because I was tired, angry and frustrated of seeing good people leave companies due to lacking professional development and I was really tired of letting go of good people that had coachable skills.
Who are your cofounders and what makes you a great team?
I don’t have any Co-Founders. We are great as a team because we are all peers that are passionate about education and learning from one another.
How is your company making a difference?
We are providing personalized learning at scale for anyone to own their career. We are a diverse, inclusive, safe and supportive environment for people to learn and upskill.
What are some of the challenges you have faced?
Investors have been very difficult. They poke holes in my business model while I have competitors in this space where it is clear this solution is needed. We are not first to market, but best to market, because we value and see education as a life force to continue to help people and drive the diversity and inclusion of all of us.
What is your biggest win?
1 year in business, 268% growth in the new year, tons of clients, tons of coaches and an amazing team. Every day is a win.
Who is your role model?
No one in particular. Closest is the team where I learn from them every day.
What do you wish you had known before starting your company?
I knew it was going to be tough – and patience has helped me along the way.
Anything else you want people to know?
Keep on, keep on. If you have something that is special, ensure everyone can see it and keep on.
