Funding Report: April 2022

Here’s this month’s funding report:

🦄  Chief, the network for women executives, just raised a $100 million Series B round catapulting it to unicorn status in just 3 years. The round was led by Alphabet’s CapitalG, and includes investment by General Catalyst, GGV Capital, Inspired Capital, Primary Ventures and Flybridge. 

💵  Ellevest, the financial company built by women for women, announced a $53M Series B funding round. The round was co-led by BMO and Contour Venture Partners. It included investments from several new women-led investors, including Halogen Ventures, Cleo Capital, New York Ventures of Empire State Development, Stardust Equity, The Venture Collective, and Envestnet, as well as the LGBTQIA+ investment syndicate Gaingels.

✨  Real, a mental health app, has raised a $37M oversubscribed Series B. The round was led by Owl Ventures, with participation from former Cityblock CEO Iyah Romm and chief health officer Dr. Sylvia Romm. Returning investors include Lightspeed Venture Partners, Female Founders Fund, Forerunner Ventures and BBG Ventures.

🧬  DUOS, a digital health company on a mission to increase the longevity and independence of older adults, announced today a $15M Series A funding led by Imaginary Ventures, along with participation from existing investors Forerunner Ventures, Declaration Partners, and new investor Optum Ventures.

☀️  100.co, the Artificial Intelligence-powered consumer brand group, announced that its new skincare brand, CAY SKIN by Winnie Harlow raised $6.5M in funding becoming one of 100 black female founders to raise more than $1 million of Venture Capital.

🤰 Conceive, a digital health startup raises $3.7M for its outcomes-oriented fertility solution. The round was led by Kindred Ventures, with participation from Founder Collective, Great Oaks, and 40+ founders and angels.

👜  The Folklore Group, a fashion e-commerce startup, announced a $1.7M round of pre-seed funding led by Slauson & Co.,with participation from the Fearless Fund alongside other notable Black angel investors, including WNBA star Nneka Ogwumike.
