Female Founder Feature – Tasha Holland-Kornegay, WIRL(WellnessIRL.com)

Tasha Holland-Kornegay is the founder of WIRL(WellnessIRL.com).

Tell us about your company. What inspired you to start it?
I created a platform that I actually needed. Having wrestled with a formidable case of burnout myself, I knew that the high-stress environment that healthcare professionals work in could really take a toll on our mental health. In the throes of my own burnout episode, WIRL was the light at the end of the tunnel it was a way for me to help myself and my colleagues.
Who are your cofounders and what makes you a great team?
My husband-William Kornegay is the cofounder. After watching me struggle with burnout, he saw how much strength and dedication it took for me to overcome it. When I pulled through, we both decided that our next move would have to involve burnout, one of the most neglected challenges that face health professionals every day. That’s when we co-founded WIRL, a business dedicated to connecting medical professionals with the resources they need to achieve wellness in their personal and professional lives.
How is your company making a difference?
Helping healthcare workers identify and get over burnout by connecting them to the wellness deals and solutions.
What are some of the challenges you have faced?
I like to refer to “challenges” as learning curves, and I have learned from all of them. I look at learning from those challenges, as overcoming challenges”
What is your biggest win?
Being selected to participate in Unilever’s business coaching program.
Who is your role model?
My Wonderful Grandmother! She was tough as nails!
What do you wish you had known before starting your company?
Don’t become so engulfed with business that you miss life!
What is your CEO superpower?
To fly and sprinkle wellness all over the globe.
What has been your experience with FFA?
I have a great support network with FFA! The members at FFA, are fine with me running new business ideas by them. They are always all ears!
Anything else you want people to know?
With WIRL, I know that the sooner I get my platform out to the world the better. That’s motivation enough for me. I just have to think back to how lost I felt when I was burned out, and then remember that there are countless others who feel like that right now. I need to be there for them.
