What is Diabetes?

In near-concordance, quasi-official bodies in Europe and the USA have defined diabetes as fasting glucose >7mmol/l.

The new definition abandons our leading clinical concept that patients differ in their presentation and needs; now it is to be a question of numbers. And yet, how many of those 'lumpers' understood even how, and why, glucose numbers differ as between whole blood and blood plasma?
